The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.
For those who lived in a land of deep shadows — light! Sunbursts of light! You repopulated the nation, you expanded its joy. Oh, they’re so glad in your presence! Festival joy! The joy of a great celebration, sharing rich gifts and warm greetings.
It’s in the dark of winter when the Christmas trees bring a bright light to our homes and warmth in the midst of dropping temps. I was up hours before the sun this morning and enjoyed some quiet time in front of the tree. Are you a tree gazer….? I am. It’s mesmerizing to get lost in a Christmas tree.
This year I put tinsel on my tree and I’m spellbound by how the long slivers of silver reflect the lights. As the air in the room moves the tinsel moves - ever so gently - and you can see the hues of reds, greens, and blues of the lights. There are some blind spots on the tree where you can’t see the light itself, but you can see its reflection in the tinsel.
What an anaology!
We’re God’s tinsel in the world! Reflecting the Light in the darkness around us. I don’t know about you, but that’s purdy awesome!
